Bass Fishing on Mozingo Lake Missouri: Ice Is Completely Out!
Four days after my earlier report on 3/14 it’s official … Mozingo Lake in northwest Missouri is ready for bass fishing since the ice is completely out!
After the recent warm-up, I had little doubt this would be the week when the opportunity to hit Mozingo Lake for a little bass fishing. Even though the lake was still mostly covered with ice last Sunday (3/14), there was enough open water and flimsy looking ice (see below) to know it was only a matter of days before it opened completely.
I was definitely elated then and totally psyched today (3/18/10) after driving back out to Mozingo and pulling into the city ramp area to see …
Another fantastic sight was the presence of many people either just out enjoying the beautiful weather (it was in the 60s!), some doing a little fishing from shore plus four boats on the water.
How cool is that? (Actually with a fairly brisk wind over the cold water … very cool
)
When I went by the “Fishing Dock” area on Mozingo Lake’s eastern arm, there was a party of 5 anglers apparently fishing for crappie or other panfish as seen in the image below:
Definitely a great day to get out and be either on the water or at its edge and a wonderful beginning to a new open water season and great bass fishing on Mozingo Lake for 2010.
